Dear Colleagues, Dear Friends Members of ICMART,
The next World Congress of the International Council of Medical Acupuncture and Related Techniques (ICMART) will take place in Istanbul from 6 to 8 November 2026. It will be organized by the four associations of medical acupuncture practitioners in Turkey, representing more than 10,000 members. Turkey is a country where acupuncture was introduced more than five centuries ago (Note 1).
Istanbul is Turkey’s largest metropolis, a cosmopolitan city and a major tourist destination. Ankara is the administrative capital. Roman, Byzantine, and Ottoman, the city boasts a rich cultural and historical heritage spanning nearly 2,600 years. It developed on the western bank of the Bosphorus over centuries and now extends to its eastern bank. All three massive bridges and one underwater tunnel connect the two parts of the city, a link between Europe and Asia.
Each ICMART congress follows the tradition established by its founders in Vienna in 1983: to exchange and share knowledge, enrich one another, develop our professional practices, deepen our scientific understanding, remain grounded in modern medicine, and contribute to its development. You will participate in keynote speeches, symposiums, ICMART Forum, thematic sessions, ICMART Science and Young Scientist Awards, Poster Awards.

We are honored to invite you to the 39th ICMART World Acupuncture Congress. As the four Turkish Societies that have organized the National Acupuncture and Complementary Medicine Congresses in Turkey since 1987, we are very excited to be holding the third ICMART World Acupuncture Congress in Istanbul. Sixteen Traditional and Complementary Medicine methods, including acupuncture and related techniques are recognized by the Ministry of Health in our country as practices requiring certification for medical doctors. Our congress, under the umbrella of ICMART, will also feature some important Traditional and Complementary Medicine methods used in health maintenance and disease treatment, allowing us to closely follow the latest developments in the literature. I would also like to express my gratitude to the ICMART Board members who have worked with us for a long time in the preparation of the scientific program. We are delighted to welcome you to Istanbul, a city at the intersection of two continents: Europe and Asia, which embraces numerous historical treasures and natural beauties. Our congress will be the focal point of social activities, showcasing our city and providing unforgettable photo opportunities to participate in its entertainment. We look forward to meeting you on the scientific platform for three or four full days and sharing our social and cultural riches.
